Maternity, but make it editorial: Katrina and Savonne
“We can’t decide on our favorites - Thank you for capturing such a special time for us. ”
Just two weeks before Katrina and Savonne were to meet their baby, we met in a South Boston studio where excitement mingled with anticipation. It was my now third maternity session in Boston, my second time photographing in studio, and a continuation of shaping how I approach maternity work.
Playfully hoping for different genders, a small detail that kept the mood light and personal throughout the session, Katrina and Savonne were naturals. The studio gave us soft natural window light, clean space, and freedom to explore.
We experimented with shadow, movement, and simple elements like a soap-box, all in keeping the look editorial and minimal while still feeling fun and easy going. We talked about Boston, growing up in the city and going to rival high-schools, all to the effect of connecting beyond the camera.
That connection is always my goal. When people feel like they know you, comfort becomes natural and the images hold onto something real.
